[/content_band]Stalheimskleiva
One of Northern Europe’s steepest roads! A 1.5 km long stretch that winds up the mountain from the Nærøy Valley (Nærøydalen) to the top at Stalheim.
13 hairpin bends. 18 percent average. Some parts with 20.
In the picture we see Sondre Sørtveit (@sondresortveit) giving it a try.
Spectacular view!
The road goes up a ridge between two waterfalls. To the north you can see the Sivle waterfall (Sivlefossen) with a drop of about 140 meters, and in the south you see the Stalheim waterfall (Stalheimsfossen) with a drop of 126 meters.
Stalheimskleiva was built between 1842 and 1846 to improve postal road between Oslo and Bergen.
